MINUTES OF TOWN OF COON BOARD OF SUPERVISORS MEETING

OCTOBER 13, 2005

The Town of Coon Board of Supervisors met at the Coon Town Hall on Thursday, October 13, 2005 at 7:30 p.m.


Present: Orlan Bakkum, chairman; Craig Storm and Leon Minor, supervisors; Jan L Ihle, treasurer and Dale Haugrud, patrolman. Also present was David Marks.


Chairman, Orlan Bakkum opened the meeting.


Moved by Craig, seconded by Leon to approve the minutes of previous regular Town of Coon Board of Supervisors meeting as printed by the clerk, Lorraine Bakkestuen. All aye. Motion carried.

Moved by Craig, seconded by Leon to accept the treasurer report. All aye. Motion carried.


David Marks expressed his concern about the time element between the open book and the board of review saying there was not enough time to develope an objection to assessment of property. Also the time element of the notice of the increase in assessments and the board of review had been very limited.


Orlan remarked that the assessors were pushing to get everything done within the time limit they had to do the job.


Sand and salt report remains the same as last month.


Moved by Leon, seconded by Craig to pay all claims. All aye. Motion carried.


Leon Minor reported that in three to four weeks they would be thinking about public meetings on the Smart Growth Program.


David Marks expressed his concern about how it would be worded so that individual land owners could still retain control so that they could still receive the maximun benefits from owning their property. He gave an example of what could happen to one farm owner.


David Marks also asked about what the height of a tower could be built. He was considering for his own personal use. Leon remarked that it was 300 feet and beyond that approval would have to be received from the FAA.


The budget properation meeting was set for October 18, 2005 at 7:30 p.m.


Budget Hearing scheduled for November 14, 2005 at the Coon Town Hall at 7:30 p.m..


The next regular Town of Coon Board of Supervisors meeting was set for November 8, 2005 at 1:00 p.m. at the Coon Town Hall.


Moved by Leon, seonded by Craig to approve the patroman`s contract for 2005-2006. All aye. Motion carried.


$551 had been collected for recyclables on large item cleanup days. Amount down from previous collections.


Orlan reported on his tour of the new Vernon Couty jail.


Moved by Leon, seconded by Craig to approve the purchase of a 2001 Chevrolet truck for the township. All aye. Motion carried.


Moved by Craig, seconded by Leon to approve the new sealcoat loan with Fortress Bank for three years. All aye. Motion carried.


Moved by Craig, seconded by Leon to adjourn the meeting. All aye. Motion carried.
